Into the channels

Today was our first day on the channels of the Intracoastal Waterway. We entered the inlet at Port Everglades, and passed seven bascule bridges on our way north. Whoa! What a place! This is where the money in USA are piling up! We have never before seen such an amount of private palaces and superyachts. If you think you are rich, you have never been here. It's insane.

Anyhow, we tried to keep up as good as possible, and had to keep a minimum speed of 6 knots to reach the bridge openings before they closed. It's like a road with timed traffic lights. If you are slow, you must wait.

On the way, we saw three houses with Norwegian flags outside. The owners waved like crazy when they saw the flag on our stern.

When we tried to enter the channel where we shall stay for the rest of the week, we ran aground in the inlet. We have now tied up to an old barge, waiting for high tide so we can try again.
