Rocket launch party
Yesterday we got to see a live rocket launch from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. SpaceX sent up one of their new Falcon9-rockets carrying supplies to the International Space Station.
We were pretty far from the launch site, so the rocket appeared tiny in the distance. We first saw it's bright flame pushing it straight up, and after 15 seconds or so, the thunderous sound finally caught up to our viewing location In Cape Marina.
Even at that distance, more than ten kilometers away, the walls of the boatyard were shaking and rattling. It came very clear to us how much energy is required to push a rocket into space.
The whole thing lasted less than a minute. Then the rocket was out of sight in the blue sky.
After the launch, we had a rocket party in the cokpit of another cruiser boat. It was a fun evening, meeting new people.
